Ark Education City

Ark Education City or ‘EdCity’ is a not-for-profit partnership between national education charity Ark and Hammersmith & Fulham Council.

The scheme will bring a new education hub in the form of a new primary school, new nursery and an adult education centre, as well as affordable homes, a state of the art youth centre and office space.

OCC were contracted initially to carry out the enabling works for the site, including site clearance and installing drainage and services for the site welfare set up.

We then returned later in the project to complete the external works. This included:

• Breaking out and removing the concrete hardstanding previously installed for the main works
• A new playground comprising rubber crumb play areas, a 1000m2 permeable playground hardstanding, cycle shelters and planters formed with flexible aluminium edging
• Ducting for power and comms throughout the site
• RC retaining walls to facilitate accessibility
• Paving including concrete flags and intricate clay pavers
